Share a proverb you think is completely wrong and make your case.

The proverb explains a concept of revenge. The idea that revenge lowers us. I always used to follow this proverb. It allowed a code to live by that seemed ideal. Yet in hindsight the concept is one that I think has been lost in translation. Turning the other cheeks suggests not to react in the moment. However the proverb An Eye for an Eye suggests that revenge that is proportionate is acceptable. Seeing a proverb in isolation can make us in a way pacifists. This is not what these two proverbs mean. Proportionate revenge is completely acceptable. In fact the entire justice system of death penalties relies on the life for a life model. Eye for an Eye…

I think that proverbs are best examined in full context not in isolation.
