What does “having it all” mean to you? Is it attainable?
What is integrity ? In England I ask this question regularly. I ask it becasue it is an individual and colective attribute that creates communities and spaces that are safe. I have integrity, it is a rare commodity. It provides a lense to view the world around us with a sense of trying to bring a semblance of compassion, care and most importantly to view things from anothers perspective. This seems sadly lacking in England. Not majoritvely but in too many cases, men and women raising choldren to beleive that discrimination, abuse and violence is acceptable. Either in action or treatment of those around them. Integrity is the foundation for growth in my view. Therefore surrounded by people who lack this value, makes it difficult to picture it being possible to have it all… Yet there are sgns of change. Signs of a country that is seekin growth, seeking equity and integrity. Like any growth the example is being seen in the international centre o d England, that being London. With fearlessnes the governance are openly exposing those men and women who have lacked integrity by offending in positions of trust. When this precedent is enforced throughout he country, the idea that sexual violence, abuse, discrimination and hatred has no place in society. This has to be modelled in goverenance before there can be the wholeheaarted, retlentless pursuit of those individuals and groups famillies, who behave in ways that are destructive and abusive. It isnt about Utopia, it is about children being safe in childcare, schools, care environments from assault, sexual violence and abuse. Where worship is freely undetaken, but that the rules of safety are enforced in every place where women and children and vulnerable adults attend. That there is no hiding place for men who rape, sexually offend against childen and vulnerble adults and the women, sister mothers and colleagues who turn a blind eye. This process takes time. Being a part of those changes is he road to havig it all. Without integrity I have nothing…..
