My birthday what to do ?…

I write this blog as many readers know, I am also working on my second book Getting it Right… spoiler alert, it is a simple interactive book for families teachers and professionals to keep children safe and create communities of awareness to the dangers that children can face in the home and communities, how to try and reduce these risks…

It’s a tough process after the survival collection, but it relies on the exceptional research from the USA and my experience as an educator and police officer. These subjects are difficult and require those who want to help, to be reflective on their own experiences and those within their own families, so that they can recognise abuse and be a supporter.

Having completed the main parts of the work, I am now working on the reflective aspects, so that book truely engages the reader in how they can actively develop as a supporter.

So today is my birthday, I am reflecting myself on the horrific circumstances in the United Kingdom, that has remained in silence and hidden for years. Even for many years I was completely unaware of how serious and just how many children were facing not only the horrors of familial violence but then being effectively sold to gangs so that the abuse of these children could continue by the people who were supposed to protect them.

I had chocolate cake for breakfast, a family tradition from when my babies were small, we chose breakfast on our birthdays… great coffee and my replacement laptop, the survivor laptop sadly did not survive my travels and dropping it. However the laptop I will keep as a momento of the Survivor book.

A day off, a visit to the movies, chocolate cake and New York Cheesecake for sustenance, a perfect day.
